The directions to the Cabin: Please view the map and avoid SatNav directions taking you up Foul Step Lane (the clue is in the name, it’s very steep) please take the Ellers Brow Road off the A593.

PLEASE AVOID FOUL STEP LANE

Directions:

(These directions are for approaching from the South.  If you are approaching from the North please drive through Ambleside until you see signs for  the A593 to Clappersgate/Skelwith Bridge then continue from bulletpoint 3)

  • Make your way to Ambleside on the A591.
  • Before you get into Ambleside, turn left at traffic lights at Waterhead onto the A593 to Skelwith Bridge.
  • After passing through Clappersgate continue on the A593 to Skelwith Bridge, you now need to ignore your Satnav!
  • Before Skelwith Bridge take the first right turn, sign posted “High Close” on the Ellers Brow Lane (it’s a right turn, on a left-hand bend)
  • Continue up this lane until you can make a left turn, sign posted “Neaum Crag”.
  • Continue down this lane and you will see a slate sign on the right, set in the wall, by the entrance to “Neaum Crag”.
  • Continue along the drive until you come to a large timber building on your left, “Pool Hall”.
  • Continue on until you see a gate with the name Ullswater and a bench seat at the side of your parking place.
